    CPU/SMP do not download at all Empty CPU/SMP do not download at all

    Post by Markitzero Mon May 30, 2011 11:53 pm

    I found out about this program from my folding@Home team forum so I wanted to try it out I downloaded it but on setup the CPU/SMP download Stays at Starting then GPU2 and GPU3 complete download. Without CPU/SMP I am unable to use the program. Then after the GPU 2 and 3 the Zip files delete themselfs without installing or even able to run them. I have spent over 1 Hour looking for the workaround that I heard about on the forum I can't find it anywhere

    System Specs:

    CPU: AMD Athlon X2 4200+ 2.21Ghz
    RAM: 6GB "3.12GB usable"
    Video: EVGA e-Geforce 8800GTS Superclocked 320MB

    Internet connection:
    Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go 3G - I live in a Rural area and my only other option is Dial-up

    Your best option is to manually set up the Tracker's folders and config files. This isn't exactly easy, but there isn't much of a choice if the client downloads are not working.

    To manually set up the Tracker:

    1. Download the GPU3 console client and rename the .exe to FAH_GPU3.exe and put this in the Tracker's main folder.
    2. Download the GPU2 console client and rename the .exe to FAH_GPU2.exe and put this in the Tracker's main folder.
    3. Download the SMP client (not the installer, you need the drop-in binary) and rename it to FAH.exe. Place this in the Tracker's main folder.
    4. Create folders for each client in the Tracker's main folder (CPU, SMP, GPU0, ...., GPU7)
    5. Copy the cuda and ati DLL files from the GPU3 client into each GPU subfolder.
    6. Run the clients with -configonly to generate the client.cfg files (you need one for each client subfolder, make sure you use the right type of client) (see example, machine IDs are 1=CPU, 2=SMP, 3-10=GPU0-GPU7)
    7. Don't worry about the STATS and CONFIG folders, the Tracker creates these automatically if they don't exist.

    Example of correctly generated client.cfg for GPU0:
    Code:

    [settings]
    username=jedi95
    team=111065
    passkey=
    asknet=no
    machineid=3
    bigpackets=big
    extra_parms=-gpu 0

    [http]
    active=no
    host=localhost
    port=8080
    usereg=no

    [core]
    priority=96
    checkpoint=5
    nocpulock=1

    [clienttype]
    type=0

    It create the folders on its own but does not download right, When I get on my main computer I will do that.

    I downloaded :
    http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/folding/release/Folding@home-Win32-GPU_Vista-623.zip
    http://www.stanford.edu/~friedrim/Folding@home-Win32-GPU_XP-641.zip

    The only Drop in Client for CPU/SMP is 6.30
