hmmm. I don't see why they would say that an I5 is better than an I7. Unless they are just using price for performance. Which then would give the edge to a I5 at stock speeds for gaming.

Waiting til you get home to see your ppd. You need the F@HMonitor Pro for your phone man. I got it last week set it up and love it.

Re: CPU Core Temp????
Great idea. only trouble is, the only decent phone carrier in my area is Verizon and they want to rape me an additional 40 bucks a month to add web access to my phone.... so I stick with texts and phone calls...
Sad that some of us live this way..... I'm just happy they finally added DSL to where I live.... there are still some around my area at Verizon's mercy and they're utterly stuck with dial up...... sad but true!
Oh... and my SMP client is hitting 10k a day... :-)

Re: CPU Core Temp????
Hey! Thanks for the reccomendation to check out overclockers forums etc!
I read up... and learned a lot!! (Now I really wish I would have purchased the non-locked i5 or even gone with the non-locked i7)
So when I hit the "performance" settings, it apparently sets my core multipliers to 41!!!! so it's trying to push my poor little i5 at 4100mhz!!! Yeowch!!! Now wonder I was over heating!!!
So I reset all the settings to default/standard. Then adjusted my core up to 37, so that when Turbo kicked in, I'd hit that 3700mhz I'm supposed to have. Temps ran up to about 72/73° degrees. I didn't let it run for a long period of time or really stress test it, as I really don't want to run at Max temp all the time. So I pulled it back down to about 34. My temps hold at around 65/66°.
Knowing all this now, I'll probably invest in a good CPU cooler. Gotta make sure it fits in my case though. Rosewill CRUIDER
Thanks for all your input and assistance. I never had a clue that my Processor really was being overclocked by my overzealous Sabertooth board! :-) Apparently she's a hungry kitty!

Re: CPU Core Temp????
If you can get to 4.1 then that would be great. I think you could get most any air cooler in there. You just may have to remove the big side fan.
That board is a beast. Hope you make use of it

Re: CPU Core Temp????
Ok!!! I got my Cooler! Went with the CM Hyper 212....!
I'll have to either take the large fan off the side of the case (it's just a tiny bit too large to fit) or shave it down till it does!! We'll see!!!
Anyway... look below!
So I got it running. That's under a full load on Prime95.
Highest the temp has gone is 63°, but quickly pops down to the 58°ish level!!
And... from all the reading I did, that there is the utter MAX I'll get out of a locked i5, without pushing that Bus Speed any higher, which is iffy stability wise!
Thanks for all the help and assist!

Re: CPU Core Temp????
I then set the core clock to the standard 100, but kept the multiplier at max (38), So I'm getting 38Ghz, and my CPU temp never gets over 50!!!
Wow!!! I should have done this sooner!

Re: CPU Core Temp????
Nice first overclock man! I would stay away from the BLK overclocking like you did. Low to mid 60s is a perfectly fine temp for 24/7 use. As you observed already you can see thermals go up exponentially with clock speed.
What is the max Multiplier you can use with that processor?

Re: CPU Core Temp????
Max Multiplier on an i5 2500 is 38.
After getting the new cooler on the board (I had to take everything apart) I went in and reset BIOS to the base settings and then hit the performance button.
It was trying to clock the board with a 41 multiplier, but the CPU only goes to 38, as you saw there in CPUID.
I'm happy with the 100 and 38 multiplier. System doesn't get over 50 now, which is sweet!
I figure an extra 114 mhz at this point really isn't worth a HUGE jump in heat.
